  • Brand: Period Patterns

  • Manufacturer: Patterns of Time
  • Sewing Pattern - Men's Elizabethan Garments, c. 1558-1605. The late Tutor period was a time of transition and uncertainty with 3 rulers in 11 years (not to mention Lady Jane Grey, who only ruled for 9 days), and the country endured violent switches from Protestant to Catholic. During the early part of this period the men's styles changed faster than woman's fashions. Gowns (PP53) declined in popularity, and a new emphasis was placed on the lower trunk. Even with the peascod belly doublet and trunk hose, men's styles could not compete with the sheer bulk of the women's gowns during Elizabeth's later reign. Late in the period men wore neck ruffs and later the falling collar, sometimes together. They also wore wrist ruffs and cuffs (PP90 - sized for women). Period Patterns number 58, Men's Elizabethan Garments, c. 1558-1605, supplies patterns for 7 doublets, 5 pairs of Trunkhose, 1 Venetians, 1 slops, a falling collar and cuffs (sizes 34-54). This pattern is complimented by PP43, PP53, PP90, PP92, and PP93. Great for Game of Thrones Costume, Eddard Stark, Sean Bean, Arryn, Baratheon, Greyjoy, Lannister, Stark, Tully, Tyrell, Rickon Stark, Rodrik Cassel, Maester Luwin, Jory Cassel, Hod... [Read More]

Women's Undergarments, Ruffs, Collars & Cuffs Pattern

    Bestseller #3 Elizabethan Period Costumes

    Information
  • ASIN: B00188JD4M
  • Brand: Period Patterns
  • Size: multi
  • Manufacturer: Patterns of Time
  • Sewing Pattern - Women's Undergarments, Ruffs, Collars & Cuffs . Chemises were worn for comfort, to keep body dirt off the outer clothes, and for sleeping. They were also often allowed to show for decoration at the neck, wrist and/or through slashes in the sleeve (PP41, PP51 & PP56). Corsets, farthingales (hooped petticoats) and bumrolls reshaped the body into a fashionable silhouette. These undergarments as well as partlets, ruffs, collars and cuffs were worn for style and social status (the more elaborate and constricting a piece of clothing was, the less practical, thus denoting the higher status of the wearer). Many styles are not complete without the proper undergarments, and others will not have the right shape. Period Patterns number 90, Women's Undergarments, Ruffs, Collars & Cuffs. offers patterns for 5 chemises, 2 corsets 2 partlets, 2 ruffs, 2 bumrolls, 3 collars and cuffs (sizes 8-18 included). These are just the thing to authentically complete Period PP16, PP21, PP26, PP41, PP51 PP56, PP58. • ASIN: B00188PTPE
  • Brand: Period Patterns

  • Sewing Pattern - Capes and Tabards., c. 650-1650. Throughout the "dark ages" (the early medieval period) capes were indispensable for protection against the weather, as well as fashionable articles of clothing in their own right. They were worn by both sexes of all classes and ages. While there were some variations, the same basic capes were found throughout extended Europe. In the Middle Ages the cut of capes became more sophisticated, and many new variations appeared. Tabards and ganaches reflected the growing preoccupation with fit and fashion. In the Renaissance, these changes led to capes often being reduced to more of a fashion accessory than serious protection against cold or wet weather. THis pattern provides patterns for 13 capes, 3 separate hoods, a tabard, small capelet, and a ganache (sized for chests 16" to 54"). This pattern goes with PP16, PP21, PP23, PP26, PP41, PP43, PP51, PP53, PP56, PP58, PP93, PP101 and PP102. Great For SCA Garb, SCA Living history, Renaissance Festivals.
