Bestseller #2 Tudor Era Costumes Patterns
Information
Sewing Pattern - Period Patterns number 52, Tudor Era Headdresses, c. 1490-1580 A.D., contains patterns for 17 different headdresses. Use this pattern with PP41, PP46, PP51, and PP56. Even in headdresses, the Renaissance was much more individualistic than the Middle Ages had been. Many radically different styles of headdresses were fashionable during the Tudor period in France, England, Flanders and the Netherlands. In general, the more elaborate headdresses were smaller and cut closer the head than previous fashions. The simpler ones were more tailored than the many different varieties of veils favored in earlier fashion trends. Snoods were worn without veils, and many different versions of hoods were seen. Some styles were seen almost exclusively in one area or country, while others were more widespread. Velvet Tudor Dress Plus Size Gold Trim Damask Inset Layered Renaissance Luxury (4X, Black)
Bestseller #5 Tudor Era Costumes Patterns
Information
Inspired by Tudor fashion, this long, form-fitted gown is made from black, burgundy or navy blue velvet and is accented with a gold-colored trim on the arms, shoulders and waist. There is a gold-colored baroque damask inset in the front of the velvet skirt. The sleeves feature satin-lined tippets hanging down from the upper arm and a more fitted lower arm. Both the sleeves and skirt give a layered look with flowing and contrasting shapes and lines. The dress is fitted at the waist and bodice and then flares out from the hips in a skirt that drapes beautifully. The back of the gown has gorgeous laces which are used to fasten the dress. To enhance the look, you can wear it with a petticoat or hoop-skirt (to give the dress shape), which is not included here. Pair this outfit with our Men's 3 Piece Velvet Doublet Renaissance Outfit for an eye catching couples costume! Looking for more? Assembled from vintage issues of Peterson's Magazine, a popular nineteenth-century "ladies" periodical that premiered in 1842, here is an authentic gallery of Civil War-era clothing patterns for women, children, and men. The author of many books on historic fashion, Seleshanko has compiled this new, original volume of wonderfully usable antique garment designs to delight costume designers, historians, Civil War reconstructionists, and antiques collectors alike!During the 1860s, the Civil War left Americans with shortages of all kinds -- including clothing resources. Peterson's pattern diagrams were of enormous help to women who no longer had the opportunity to purchase their clothing abroad
